We all have Eureka Moments. It is the common human experience of suddenly understanding a previously incomprehensible problem or concept. It is also known as an Aha Moment or the Eureka Effect. It is attributed to Archimedes who was asked to determine whether a king’s crown was pure gold. He noted that water was displaced when he got into his bath and the volume of water was equal to to the object submersed in the water. This helped him determine if the crown was gold. I am not sure exactly how he knew this. Archimedes then leaped out of the bath and ran home naked shouting “Eureka” which means “I have found it.” I get Eureka Moments when I find a book I have been looking for in a used book store or when I find a letterbox. I had a Eureka Moment when I thought to do this blog! We often see Eureka Moments in mediation when a couple finds a solution to a marital problem they thought was impossible to solve. We encourage them.
